David Artell says that the club will remain cautious with the returning trio of winger Daniel Powell, defender Donervon Daniels and midfielder Tom Lowery but they availability has been timely.

All three were able to get minutes under their belt against Newcastle United Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy and in Powell’s case against Coventry City’s Under-23s. All three were fit and available for selection against Oxford United on Saturday, but the match was postponed after Omar Beckles tested positive for Covid-19.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It is good to have the three lads back with us but we will make sure we continue with our cautious approach.

“We want them for the long-term and not for them to be in-and-out all the time. They have trained well and they have been fine for 10 days or so now, so we will see if they are involved against Wigan on Saturday.

“Them returning increases the competition for places and we will need all of them.”
