Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has revealed that defender Olly Lancashire was taken off as a precautionary measure in the 1-0 win over the Newcastle youngsters on Tuesday night.
Lancashire went down after tweaking a muscle in his thigh and had to replaced by Perry Ng after just half an hour. The club and player didn’t want to take any further risks and withdrew him from the game.
Artell told the club’s official website: “Olly was taken off as a precautionary measure more than anything. He felt a tweak and with the transfer window coming up, he didn’t want to take a risk with it and it was the sensible decision.
“We are projecting him to be out for about 10 days or so and I think he made the right call to come off. “
