The club’s Finland Under-21 International, Will Jaaskelainen, is set to mark his 50th career appearance against Lincoln City this evening.
The former Bolton trainee has established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper following the departure of long-standing Ben Garratt before our promotion winning season.
Ahead of his half century of games, Will told Ifollow: “The 50 games have come around quickly for me but it something to remember and look forward to. I have enjoyed playing in every game so far and long may that continue.
“I feel as though I have established myself as the number one but I know that Trig (Dave Richards) is always pushing me and I have to keep on improving. I feel there is a lot for me to improve on still.
“I think we are defending well as a team and that always helps. We haven’t conceded many because the midfield and wingers are tracking back, doing their jobs and protecting me and the back four. The shape is good and we are all disappointed when we concede a goal.”
On tonight’s game against Michael Appleton’s table topping side, the young Finn said: “It be another tough game. Lincoln are going well and are top of the league.
“We lost to them in the cup earlier in the season and we have to learn from that. I think we have. Hopefully, we can gain that edge this time to make sure we get the three points. If we can get back-to-back wins after winning at Doncaster then that would be massive for us.”
