"Darren Has Gone In And Done A Terrific Job With Doncaster"

23 October 2020

Alex boss praises the work Darren Moore has achieved at Donny ahead of our weekend clash at the Keepmoat.

David Artell is expecting another tough away assignment at Doncaster this weekend. The Alex are still searching for their first away point of the new season and face a Rovers side that emphatically defeated Ipswich Town 4-1 in mid-week. Darren Moore’s side are currently in one of the play-off positions and although it is still early days, they are sure to be contenders for promotion this season.

Talking ahead of our trip to the Keepmoat Stadium, an impressed Alex boss said: “It should be another good game of football. They are going really well under Darren and will have their eyes on a possible return to the Championship.

“They had a great win over Ipswich in the week, so will be full of confidence. We know we will have to go there and be at it. We have to make better decisions than we did on Tuesday night (at Sunderland) and if we can do that then we have a chance.

“Darren is a good manager and he knows this league and the one above. He has a wealth of experience as a player and a management. I thought he did a really good job at West Brom and was unfortunate to lose his job there. I thought from an outsider point of view, because I don’t know the ins and outs of it, but it looked unfair at the time.

“That’s football though and he has gone into Doncaster and done a really good again. We know it is going to be another tough away game, but they are tough every week at this level.

“I think we had been improving with each performance but that just dropped slightly in the last two games, but we know we can improve and we know there is more to come from this squad of players.

He added: “They didn’t play to their potential against Blackpool or at Sunderland but I am not one to criticise them. They have given everything they have and there are plenty of brownie points in the bag. They have been terrific for this football club.”
