David Artell says that our goals against column has improved on last season, but he wants to use that as a basis for getting three points.
Crewe have only conceded seven goals in this season and have narrowly lost 1-0 to the likes of Hull, Sunderland and Lincoln City. The Alex now have to focus on scoring in those tight games to make sure we have the best platform for getting more points on the board.
Ahead of our long trip to Suffolk, the Alex boss said: “We conceded some goals in the first few games but that was more down to my own naivety when we were a bit too open. That certainly contributed to our downfall but since then we have done fine defensively.
“It was one area we could improve on from last season. It wasn’t a catastrophe because you don’t win promotion if you do, but we have conceded less in League One than the league below, so it is improving.
“We are heading in the right direction on that score but now we have to score goals at the other end. If we can do that then it gives us the best chance of winning more games.
He added: “We don’t have too many issues but we have to keep on learning and keep on improving. If we can do that and play well then we will become more consistent and have a good season. The players have had a couple of dips in performance but we have come up against good sides and I don’t think we have been opened up. “
