David Artell has taken his usual philosophical approach to Friday’s transfer deadline. The summer window was extended to 16th October for EFL clubs after the new season started later than normal and Artell believes that if anything happens then so be it.
Although Crewe Alexandra remain very much a selling club, like most EFL clubs, the Alex boss says that he is in no desperate need to sell any of his young assets.
Artell told the club’s official website: “I know the deadline is coming up and honestly I have not thought about it. If the phone rings, then it rings. If the Chairman’s phone rings, then it rings.
“That is the best way to approach it. We don’t look to sell our players, clubs come to us and I’ve said that no-one will be pinching ours on the cheap. If they come in with a suitable offer and its right then we will go from there.
“We will see what happens or not on Friday and see where we get too.”
