David Artell says that he got the perfect response from the club’s Under-23s on Wednesday afternoon. The home fixture against Queens Park Rangers saw a strong Crewe side run out 4-1 winners at the Alexandra Stadium and Artell says that the performance has only pushed some closer to his first team thinking.
Crewe Alexandra take on Doncaster Rovers this weekend aiming to pick up our first away points of the new season.
Artell told crewealexnet: “It is always good for players to get minutes under their belt and it gives them a chance to impress. It is always an opportunity for them to press their claim for more regular involvement at first-team level.
“Some of them did their chances of that no harm at all. It was a good run out and they were in control for a lot of the game. We had a strong side out and they did what was expected of them. Their application was good and some of them will possibly coming into my thinking for the weekend.”
