David Artell says that if his phone rings before the closure of the summer transfer window for the EFL then he will cross that bridge if it comes to it. The Crewe Alexandra boss says that the club are not desperate to sell any players this summer and it is very much business as usual.
The transfer window for EFL clubs ends at 5pm on 16th October and Artell does not expect any more activity to take place.
The Alex boss told us: “If the phone rings or we receive an email prior to the deadline, then so be it. We will see where we get to and judge any offers on their merits but the club are not desperate to sell anyone and if people think they can come and nick our players then they are wrong.
“We are all on the same page here. The chairman, the board of directors and the staff all agree that if the right offer came in to suit all parties and it reached our valuation, then it is discussed. If it isn’t met then it is not. It is as simple as that.
“That is the way it has always been at this football club.
He added: “If the phone rings then so be it. If it doesn’t then that’s fine as well.”
