Zanzala Pressing His Claim With Another Goal For 23s

2 November 2020

Offrande Zanzala scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as the club’s Under-23s enjoyed a home win over Cardiff City on Sunday and boss David Artell says that the former and Derby County trainee just has to keep on pushing his claim.

Zanzala, who arrived on a free transfer from Accrington Stanley in the summer made his Alex debut against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Trophy and with the same opposition coming up this weekend in the FA Cup, the forward may be hoping for another chance at first team level.

Boss David Artell has told the likeable 23-year-old to continue doing what he is doing at Under-23 level. The Congo-born forward won and converted the penalty that defeated the Bluebirds at Reaseheath in appalling conditions.

Artell said: “I spoke to Ozzie last week and told him to keep going because his chance would come.

“He won and scored the penalty for the Under-23s and he played well. He just has to keep doing what he is doing. He understands that Mikael is in the team and scoring goals and then Ports (Chris Porter) is there as well.

“I am sure that when he is called upon that he will do a terrific job for the team. He has to keep working hard because his opportunity will come.”
