Artell: "Those Fine Margins Have Turned In Our Favour"

20 November 2020

Boss says that a win at Pompey would signal an 'excellent' week for the Alex.

David Artell believes that his Crewe Alexandra side are benefitting from getting those fine margins going in our favour a bit more.

Crewe have recovered in style from suffering three defeats in all competitions, to secure back-to-back victories over league leaders, Peterborough and Oxford United in League One.

The Alex travel to Portsmouth this weekend aiming to make it a hat-trick of wins and a clean-sheet at Fratton Park would see us equal the post-war record for goals against in the opening 13 games.

Ahead of our trip to Pompey, the boss told crewealex.net: “I didn’t think we were that far off when we losing those games 1-0. It was those fine margins and we had to get back to scoring goals.

“We had to tweak one or two things because we were too expansive in the opening couple of games against Lincoln and Charlton. We are not as open now.

“The players have stuck at and even when we lost 3 on the spin the world has not caved in. It never felt like that here and we always thought we would recover regardless of whoever we were playing. We think that if we play well then we can give anyone a game in this league and that have shown that this week.

“Hopefully, we can go to Portsmouth, another big club with a proud history and make it three wins in a week. That would be an excellent week for us.”
