Artell: "We Are Going Along Nicely But There Is More To Come From The Group"

20 November 2020

Boss describes start to the season as 'okay' as we prepare for Pompey test.

David Artell has told the club’s official website that his Crewe Alexandra side are doing ‘okay at both ends of the pitch’ at the moment but there is still more to come from the group.

The Alex have recorded back-to-back wins over Peterborough and Oxford in the past week and have kept two clean-sheets in the 2-0 victories. The Railwaymen now face another tough away day at Portsmouth and having only conceded 9 goals in the opening 12 games of the season, have an opportunity to equal the club record that goes back to 2002.

Ahead of our trip to Portsmouth, the boss said: “When you don’t concede goals and you can score goals then it usually means you have a good season. It is easy to say but a bit more difficult to put into practice.

“We are doing okay at both ends of the pitch. We are not blitzing it at both, so I would say we are doing okay at the moment.

“If you can keep a clean-sheet then that gives you a platform to score goals and win the game. That is our objective every game.

“We are going along quite nicely but there is certainly more to come from this group of players and they are working hard to try and improve every day and that is all you can ask.”
