Boss: "I Have No Problem With Karl And Will Shake His Hand And Wish Him Well"

16 November 2020

David Artell has told the club’s official website that there will be no issue with his counterpart, Karl Robinson, tomorrow evening.

Crewe Alexandra have seen two matches postponed at the Kassam Stadium due to Covid-19 issues and at the time, both managers spoke out in defence of their clubs and their stance.

Artell says he has moved on from that and that his club have another tough fixture against an Oxford United side that are in a ‘false position’ in the league table. The U's are currently in the drop zone but do have games in hand.

Artell does not expect them to be down there for much of the season.

Ahead of our trip to Oxford, the Alex boss said: “There will be no issue coming from me. I will shake Karl’s hand, wish him well and hopefully we will get to watch a game of football. There is no problem and we will crack on with it.

“Oxford are a very good side and Karl is a very good manager. They are in a false position for me. 100%. They were in the play-off final only a few months ago, so they don’t become a bad side overnight.

"If you look at the pattern of their results last season. They didn't make a good start but then couldn't stop winning.

“We are not fooled by their league position. We have watched them and had them watched and they, like us, should have more points than they have.

“There would have been people thinking Peterborough would beat Crewe on Saturday because they just look at the table and think top of the league should be beating Crewe who are in mid-table. It doesn’t work like that.

“Oxford are a right good team and we will have to play well to get a result there.”
