With a financial tightening expected for when football does eventually return, Artell says there is the possibility of even more academy products getting the opportunity to experience first team football in the upcoming seasons.
The boss believes other clubs will also have to put faith into their youngsters from next season and feels that will benefit the future of English football.
Artell told crewealex.net: “That will always be the case at our club. I can say that will almost certainly increase at other football clubs.
“It’s a positive step for football in general and it’s a positive step for Crewe Alexandra. Due to all the money that is floating around in the football league, and a lot of clubs have chased the dream of trying to get promoted just by throwing money at it.
“Unfortunately, Football doesn’t work like that, but now, all those clubs will come back closer to us. There will be more of a level playing field next season regardless of what league we’re in.
“However, I see it as a positive opportunity for us as a football club, in terms of the number of academy players coming through and also, how other clubs are going to have to adjust to the landscape ahead.”
