David Artell believes that the coronavirus pandemic will result in change at all levels of football. The Alex boss believes that the outbreak of Covid-19 will see a re-set when it comes to financing the game and life in general could see many different measures introduced.
The Crewe Alexandra boss told us via video link: “It looks as though we are over the first phase. Hopefully, we are now over the top and looking down.
“I’m sure life will be different as a result of this and we will all face changes but it is also an opportunity for change. I am sure there will be a financial re-set when football comes back. I’m sure clubs will be looking at wages and transfer fees and maybe operating with smaller squads.
“There have been too many clubs for too long operating beyond their means, thankfully we are not one of those clubs. We try to looks after our players the best we can and live within our means.
He added: “Every club will face an issue with contracts at the end of June and the possibility of the season going beyond that – but we will have to see what happens with that and plan accordingly.”
