Alex midfielder, Ryan Wintle, says it is imperative that Crewe Alexandra follow up the points earned away at Morecambe and Exeter is backed up with three home points against Stevenage. Crewe will be aiming for a home win over the league’s bottom side but Wintle says that there will be no complacency from us. The 21-year-old is determined to acquire the three points and apply more pressure to those around us in the promotion race.
The former Alsager youngster told the club’s official website: “We have to back up what we did at Exeter with three points against Stevenage on Saturday. There are 10 games to go and that is still a lot of points to play for. We can only look after ourselves and if we keep on picking up three points then we don’t have to worry about what anybody else is doing.
“Stevenage will want the points for different reasons. They are fighting to stay in the league and will be thinking about the boost they would get from taking points off us here, but I am sure they fear us a bit as well because we have been very good at home and are second in the league.
Ryan added: “If we play to our levels then we should be fine but there is no-one here getting carried away, we know we have to work hard for every point we earn and regardless of where teams are in the league, anyone can beat anyone on their day and we have to be wary of that.”
