Offord: "A Big Chance To Put Down A Marker"

3 March 2020

Defender looks ahead to top of the table clash at St. James' Park

Luke Offord believes that Crewe Alexandra have the perfect opportunity to lay down a significant marker in the League Two promotion race by claiming three points at Exeter City this evening. It is 2nd versus 3rd at St. James’ Park as both clubs aim to remain on the coattails of leaders Swindon Town and keep fourth placed Cheltenham Town at bay.

It is ever so tight at the top of the table and the 20-year-old Alex defender says that three points this evening would make everyone sit up and take notice in the race.

Ahead of the Exeter clash, Offord said: “We have prepared properly. We have recovered from Saturday and the focus was quickly onto Exeter. We know it is a massive game and it is a chance to go there, get the three points and put a marker down.

“They are  a good side and a place below us, so it is a chance to put more points between us and make sure we stay in the automatic promotion places. These are the games you relish as a player and everyone is looking forward to it.

“Everything is still in our own hands. There is a still a long way to go but we are in a good position and we have to keep on churning out the results and picking up the wins to make sure we are in that top three. “
