Hunt: "Time For Everyone To Remain Strong & Come Through This Together"

18 March 2020

Hunt says challenge is there for everyone to come through coronavirus.

Experienced defender Nicky Hunt says that these unprecedented times is a period for everyone to remain strong and come through adversity.

Hunt says that the players are continuing to prepare for football to resume at some point and that all they can do is follow the lead from the powers to be.

The 36-year-old right-back told the club’s official website: “It is what it is and we just have to get on with it and stay as fit as we can. It is a bit like a pre-season and if we have time off and then we resume, then we have to be ready and raring to go.

“Of course, we will have to wait and see because the health of people is paramount. We just want everyone to stay healthy and when football resumes then we want everyone back with us.

“I do think that if the season is not completed then it will place a number of lower league clubs into financial trouble. I honestly think some clubs could go to the wall like Bury. I’ve been close to what has occurred at Bolton and it’s not nice. There will be clubs fighting for their lives and it is the livelihood for players and staff. No-one want to see that happening in any business at the minute.

“It could be devastating to football but all we can do is remain strong. It is a time for everyone to pull together and do their bit and I’m sure we will all come through it.”
