'Contracts Would Be A Minefield'

18 March 2020

David Artell admits that if football is forced to extend the season it would present an unprecedented ‘minefield when it comes to playing contracts’.

With a number of contracts set to expire in the summer, a lengthy delay in completing the season would leave players uncertain of their futures and the club unsure about where they stand.

Hopefully, if it comes to a later finish date, common sense will prevail or we would receive guidance from the EFL but Artell says that we will have to cross that bridge when we come to it.

David told crewealex.net: “The situation with contracts would be something of a minefield and something we haven’t come across before but all we can do is play our way through it.

“There would be plenty of work to be done and to do. It is something we will have to tackle if it comes about. At the moment, we just don’t know.”
