Boss:" All I Can Do Is Plan Until Told Otherwise"

18 March 2020

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell will continue to prepare his squad for the proposed match against Northampton Town on 4th April.

Artell says that the club are taking every precaution to protect the players and staff from the coronavirus.

At present, Crewe are expected to play the Cobblers if and when football resumes. Artell believes that it is unlikely that game will take place on that date but he has to continue to plan accordingly.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “As it stands, we have to prepare for a game in two and half weeks’ time. In my opinion it is unlikely to be on and things are changing very fast.

“All we can do is carry on until we are told otherwise and react to things that are being said by the government and the EFL.

“We have spoken to the players and have done so over the last few weeks about the need for good hygiene and spotting any symptoms. We have spoken about self-isolation and what we would expect them to do.

“We have talked a lot about it and I trust my players. That is why they are professional and they know what they can and cannot do.”
