Boss high praise for the 157 travelling supporters who made the long trip ti Exeter for mid-week fixture.
Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell saved special praise for the ‘magnificent’ away support at St. James Park last night. 157 fans travelled to Exeter for a Tuesday night game and made a right noise throughout the game. Their reward was a spirited performance from the Alex players and they showed their appreciation at the end of the 1-1draw for the sacrifice made by so many.
Artell told the club’ official website: “The fans we had were unbelievable. I hope they have gone into work today and had a good day.
“There were 157 of them backing us on a Tuesday night in Exeter and they were magnificent. I am sure they will say they saw a really committed performance from us. We showed real character and bottle against a good Exeter side and it was a pleasing performance from my point of view for none football reasons if you like.
“We didn’t win and we need to start winning way from home again and not accept draws, but I think it was a right proper performance.
“We haven’t lost in the league on a Tuesday night and travelling down here is tough. We have lost on a Tuesday other than in the cup to Villa and Burton - but we want to make sure that we go unbeaten on a Tuesday night this season in the league”
