Artell: "Champions Train When No-One Is Watching"

24 March 2020

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he ‘trusts his players impeccably’ as they undergo their own home programmes.

The Crewe Alexandra boss says his players will remain totally professional in the next number of weeks and will be ready for when football can resume later in the year.

Artell and his staff have devised a detailed on-line programme that the players can follow over the coming weeks to remain fit and work on improvement.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We have designed an on-line tool for the players to use when they are at home. It will help them with their fitness and a chance to improve their game. They have to use the time they have to their advantage. They can spend time with their families and I trust them to do the work.

“We said to them before we were instructed to close that ‘champions train when no-one is watching’ and I want them to be like champions. I know they will be professional and when we are allowed back they will be fit and ready.

“I think they will have to come back and hit the ground running. I am not sure how much time we will have to prepare when we are allowed back, so that in mind we cannot have anyone playing catch-up. We might not have the time.”
