30 July 2020

Boss delight after promising youngster extends stay at club.

Promising defender Rio Adebisi has a ‘great chance’ of developing into a first-team regular after he recently penned a new two-year contract with the club. Adebisi, 19, made five appearances last season and certainly caught the eye with an assured full debut against Premier League opponent Aston Villa in the League Cup.

Adebisi appreciates that he has a challenge on his hands to get ahead of the club’s highly consistent left-back Harry Pickering – but Artell says that the pacey Adebisi has all the attributes to have a successful professional career.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “Rio has signed a new two year deal and he has a good chance of becoming a really good player.

“He had a taste of things last season, playing about four or five games and of course he made his debut against Aston Villa and did ever so well.

“We are delighted that he has committed his future here for another two years at least and if everything goes according to plan then he has a bright future in the game.”
