Artell: "It Has To Be Business As Usual As Much As We Can"

31 July 2020

David Artell admits that his pre-season plans are considerably different to previous summers but he says that his players and staff have adapted to the new measures well and it is business as usual as far as he is concerned.

The Alex players recently returned to training after all underwent stringent testing for Covid-19.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Everyone has been tested and there were no positive results, so we could resume non-contact training at first and progressed onto small contact training.

“It is different, I cannot say that it not but we have to get on with it and from our point of view, it is business as usual.

“We have to submit our training sessions to the EFL to be rubber stamped and Byron (Jenkins) has done a fantastic job with the work he has conducted on risk assessment at the training ground.

“We are all very mindful of what we can do and cannot do. We understand the seriousness of it and the measures we have taken are there to keep everyone as safe as possible and give them peace of mind.

“All we can do is make the best of it and make sure we are ready to go again on 12th September.”
