David Artell has revealed that the impact of his three substitutes’ at Macclesfield Town has given him food for thought ahead of this weekend’s League Two fixture at Scunthorpe United.
Callum Ainley grabbed a deserved 95th minute equaliser at the Moss Rose and both Oli Finney and Owen Dale certainly gave Crewe a lift in the second half.
The Crewe Alexandra boss told the club’s official website: “I thought the three substitutes did really well for us on Tuesday and of course that gives you food for thought.
“That is what you want as a manager, for your subs to come on and have a real impact on the game.
“Oli’s performance was tremendous for the 40 plus minutes he was on. I thought he was magnificent and I am sure that the tide was turning in our favour helped him, but he helped us as well.
“Callum got in there to score the equaliser and he did well and so did Owen Dale. That is all I ask of them and it could be another three next time, so they have to be ready.”
