Alex To Check On Chuma's Dead Leg Injury

30 January 2020

Crewe Alexandra will have to assess centre-forward, Chuma Anene ahead of this weekend’s trip to Walsall.

The on-loan Norwegian, who has hot 9 goas this season was struggling with a dead leg in our mid-week win over Leyton Orient, but completed the 90 minutes as David Artell used his substitutes to re-gain control of the midfield and when forced to replace debutant Luke Offord, who went down with cramp in the 80th minute.

Chuma Anene led the line in the 2-0 win and with Chris Porter still out with a hamstring injury, Crewe are short of that type of centre forward.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Chuma had a dead leg but just got on with it. He had to. It wasn’t easy but he came through and that is what happens at this time of year. Players pick up more knocks and muscle pulls because of the demands on the body.

“We will see how he is. I’m sure he will be fine. We will patch him up and get him on the pitch at Walsall.”
