David Artell expects Nicky Hunt to be fit to face Cheltenham Town this weekend. Hunt was forced off against league leaders Swindon Town on Saturday with a hip injury and that resulted in a defensive reshuffle with young Travis Johnson coming on at right-back to mark his league debut. Captain Perry Ng moved to centre-half to partner Ryan Wintle.
Crewe went on to lose the game 3-1 but Artell says that losing Hunt at 1-1 didn’t necessary cost us the game.
David told the club’s official website: “Nicky will be fine. He has struggled a bit with it over the last three or four weeks but it got progressively worse in the Swindon game and he had to come off.
“We would ideally want to give Nicky a rest every 6, 7, 8 games but at the moment we haven’t been able to afford him that luxury. He understands that and just gets on with it.
“When you cannot get those little rests in then those little niggles can creep up on you but he will be alright for Saturday. We will be cautious with him this week and wheel him out again.”
