Artell: "It Will Take Something Special To See One Of Our Players' Leave"

3 January 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that the club are fully in control over matters in the January transfer window. The Alex boss admits that he wouldn’t be surprised if the scouts of other clubs are watching a number of his young players but he stresses that he has received no phone calls in the opening days of the New Year window.

With Crewe 3rd in League Two and playing some wonderful football, it is no surprise that speculation about the futures of some of our top talent has increased in recent weeks. Artell remains calculated in his approach.

Artell told crewealex.net: “With the transfer window opening, it is what it is.

“I haven’t had any phone calls and we are in control of the situation. If we get a £3 million bid for one of our players then I would think they would be sold. If we get offered £300,000, I don’t think they would get a reply.

“It’s good that we are in control and we are where we are. I am happy that people are looking in our shop window because it means we are doing something right and the players are playing well. If we were third from bottom instead of top then I don’t think we would be discussing the transfer window.

“It would take something special to see one of our players leave this month.”
