Boss: "Players Do Not Concern Themsleves With The Financial Reward On Offer To The Club Nor Do I Want Them To"

David Artell says that players do no concern themselves with the prize money that can be offer to clubs for progression in the Emirates FA Cup. The Alex boss says that players have enough responsibility on their plate to worry about the financial rewards available to clubs.

Crewe take on Championship club Barnsley in the 3rd round tomorrow afternoon and Artell says that their build up is only focussed on the task at hand.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “Players do not worry about the financial rewards for the Football Club and I don’t want them to worry about it either. They have enough responsibility over their own individual performances, so there is no point heaping more pressure onto them.

“It is 11 men against 11 men and may the best team win and all that. That is not me being bullish, it is stating fact.

“All I can do is prepare right and pick a team that I think gives us the best chance to win the game. I’m sure that our players will do themselves justice against a team two leagues above us and if we do that then we can hold our heads up regardless of the result.

The boss added: “All we can do is try to play to our level and see where that gets us to because we know what a strong opponent Barnsley are.”
