Boss: "It Should Be A Great Game"

8 January 2020

Boss looking forward to County Ground test already.

David Artell says he is looking forward to Saturday’s top of the table clash already.

Third placed Crewe Alexandra travel to league leaders Swindon this weekend, hoping to gain some ground on the Robins.

Richie Wellen’s side are currently six points clear of Crewe but the Alex have two games in hand following the cancellation of our league fixture against Macclesfield Town and our involvement in the FA Cup. Our other game in hand is against second placed Exeter City.

Ahead of our trip to the County Ground, Artell told us: “I think it is going to be a great game. I am looking forward to it already.

“These are the games you want to be involved in when you are a player and we want to go there and give a good account of ourselves. If we can play to our levels, then we have a great chance.

“Swindon are top of the league and deserve to be because they have the most points but it is 11v11 and we have to make sure that our 11 are better than theirs on the day.

“It took until the 89th minute for us to get a result against them at home. It may take that long again because we know Swindon are a good side.

“I thought we justified the win at home but we are now away from home and we will have to perform. Saying that our away form has been just as good as the home form, so we will be going there full of confidence.”
