David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side gave it a ‘good go’ against Championship side Barnsley in the FA Cup but we ultimately fell short in the second half.
A spirited Crewe were beaten 3-1 by the Tykes at Gresty Road on Sunday and Artell was disappointed not to see the club progress in the competition. Barnsley now travel to face Portsmouth in Round Four after last night’s draw.
The Crewe Alexandra boss told the club’s official website: “We were disappointed to lose on Sunday and exit the Cup. We gave it a good go and had them on the ropes a bit in the first half and when Greenie equalised but Barnsley were very professional in that second half and deserved to go through.
“They were one of the Championship side who didn’t weaken their team but we expected that.
“We were disappointed to go out because the two goals we conceded were soft ones but we can take things away from the performance and learn from it. “
