Powell Touch & Go For Macclesfield Visit

21 February 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that winger Daniel Powell remains ‘touch and go’ for this weekend’s derby clash against Macclesfield Town. Powell has missed the club’s last three games after suffering a slight hamstring strain in the warm up prior to our game against Oldham Athletic.

Powell had scored three goals in his last three appearances and although he was named on the substitutes’ bench away at Plymouth Argyle last weekend, he was never going to be risked after admitting to some soreness occurring again prior to the game.

Powell had travelled with the squad on the Friday after resuming training with no reoccurrence.

David Artell has also admitted that midfielder Tom Lowery is still a ‘few days off a return to action’ but he stresses that his groin injury is nothing major.

Defender Olly Lancashire came through 90 minutes against Tranmere Rovers in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night and he is now in contention for selection.

Crewe will certainly be without Lewis Reilly (knee) and Rio Adebisi (ankle) for the visit of our Cheshire neighbours.
