Crewe Alexandra defender Olly Lancashire will step up his return to competitive action by aiming to get through another 90 minutes against Tranmere Rovers this evening in the Cheshire Senior Cup.
The club’s summer signing from Swindon has not featured for the first team since suffering an Achilles injury against his former club back in September. He had made 11 appearances for the club in his debut season.
Lancashire has recently returned to the pitch, playing 45 minutes against Blackpool for Alex Morris' Under-23s and then 90 minutes against Nottingham Forest’s Under-23s on Friday.
The former Southampton youngster is now aiming to successfully get through his second 90 minutes against Tranmere at Gresty Road tonight. Kick-off is 7.45pm at the Stadium.
David Artell told the club’s official website: “The team will be a bit of a mixed bag this evening. There will be players who will gain some experience and there will be others who need the game time.
“Olly will play. We will be looking to get another 90 minutes out of him. He did his first 90 minutes against Nottingham Forest on Friday and this will be another step forward for him.”
