Injury Update Ahead Of Plymouth Trip

13 February 2020

Crewe Alexandra will assess the fitness levels of forwards Chuma Anene and Daniel Powell before deciding if they fit enough to travel with the squad to Plymouth Argyle this weekend.

Both players missed the mid-week victory over Crawley Town but are progressing well.

Anene was forced off after 60 minutes in the win over Oldham, while Powell was a late withdrawal for Stephen Walker after picking up an injury in the warm up.

Both players will remain a doubt for the trip to Home Park but boss Artell will give them as long as possible to prove their fitness.

The Alex boss said: "They will need to be assessed again before we decide if they fit enough to travel. Daniel felt a little niggle in the warm up against Oldham and we just felt it was too much of a risk for him to play.

"Chuma's is a very similar injury, he felt it was tight so we just said 'come off the pitch'.

“They are both improving but we’ll have to see. We won’t take any risks.”

Crewe have been boosted in the last couple of weeks with the return of Tom Lowery from a hip problem, Nicky Hunt and leading scorer Chris Porter.

Olly Lancashire is training again following his Achilles problem. Crewe will be without Eddie Nolan who is still absence due to a trapped nerve in his back.
