Boss: "We Will Always Try And Win Games"

14 February 2020

David Artell says his Crewe Alexandra side will always try and win games under his tenure.

The Alex have scored two late goals against Oldham and Crawley Town to claim six points from our last two home games and the boss says that won't change in the last 14 games remaining.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “We have won the last two games late on but we don’t want to be relying on last minute goals all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I would take that tomorrow and next weekend!

“But we need to be more ruthless. We should have been out of sight in the last two games but we weren’t.

“We haven’t been ruthless enough in the last two games but we have been unfortunate to concede in both games as well.

“We will always go and try and win the game. That won’t change. Will we win promotion with 14 more draws? I don’t think so, so we will try and get all three points.

“You only have to recall the Newport game earlier in the season. We played them off the pitch that day, they didn’t have a chance but we lost it 1-0 in injury time after one of our players slipped.

“We did all we could to win the game, we deserved to win the game but we lost it. That doesn’t change and we won’t look to change that mindset.

The boss added: “My team will be focussed on doing the best we can and trying to win.”
