Artell: "We Won't Let Complacency Creep In"

6 February 2020

David Artell believes that the only thing that will derail our promotion bid is complacency. The Alex boss says his players have to keep on doing what they have done all season to complete the last leg of an exciting promotion race.

The Alex boss said earlier in the week that he does not fear pressure and that his players have the ability and mindset to see the job through in the remaining 16 matches.

David told us: “We just have to keep going and doing what we are doing. We have been in and around it for most of the season and it is no different because there are a fewer games now.

“I’ve said it before, pressure is for balloons and tyres and there is no pressure on us. We were not expected to be up there. We just have to keep churning out those results.

“The only thing we have to be wary of is complacency. We will see it coming if it does and will make sure it doesn’t cost us. It will be those little things about not getting there to get the ball or block a shot. Those little details.

He added: “It won’t be a case of thinking the ball will just come to them now because we are doing well. They will have to go and get it. They have done that all season.

"They will have to perform like they have been doing and I am sure they will.”
