Artell "We Have Good Players Who Can All Make An Impact"

12 February 2020

David Artell is delighted with the impact being made by players, who have not particularly being regulars this season. The Alex boss has stressed all season that will need the majority of the squad to play their part at some point and those that have not played as much game time as they would have hoped have certainly done that in recent games.

Ollie Finney hit the winner away at Walsall and James Jones was on target with his second goal of the season against Oldham.

Last night, second half substitutes Callum Ainley and Owen Dale both assisted in our two goals to defeat Crawley.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We have enough players and people talk about strength in depth, I just think it is having good players who can make their mark in games.

“We have those who you would not consider regulars this season and they have all played their part in recent games. James Jones and Oli Finney had scored important goals in successive matches. Callum came off the bench against Oldham and passed the final ball to Kirky for the winner and he won the penalty against Crawley.

“Owen Dale also came off the bench and has provided the cross where Ports couldn’t miss. They are all having major impacts on the games and that is what we need.

“That isn’t a fluke. That is about development, being patient with them and helping them. They are good players and understand what we need from them and it is paying off.”
