Gaffer says he just likes being nominated because it means his team have had a consistent month!
David Artell says he won’t lose any sleep over not winning the January Manager of the Month award for League Two. It is the third time the Alex boss has been nominated for the award but he has lost out to his former team-mate Ryan Lowe at Plymouth Argyle.
The Alex boss really isn’t one for personal accolades but he stresses that it is always nice to be nominated because it means his team have gone well over the month.
David Artell told the club’s official website: “It is what it is and I really don’t lose any sleep over not winning an award. I really am not into personal accolades and awards.
“I have been nominated three times and not won. I think we went one month unbeaten and still didn’t get nominated so I don’t take much noticed. I am not one for putting a picture of myself on social media with an award. I am just not like that, I am really not.
“It is nice to be nominated because it means the team and the staff are doing well. I would happily be nominated twice more before the end of the season and not win because that would mean we would have a great chance of promotion. That is all I’m interested in.
And on his rival Lowe, the gaffer joked: “I congratulate Ryan but I hope the curse strikes him really badly now!”
