"The Crowd Were Bang At It And We Will Need Them"

24 February 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he felt the vibe that the crowd would be in full voice against our Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield Town at the weekend.

Artell says he went out onto the pitch at twenty past two and saw a contingent of supporters already behind the goal. He said that he knew that the Alex crowd were going to be right at it.

Artell told crewealex.net: “To have over 5,000 home supporters was terrific and we will need them. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Gresty Road End so full. The noise they made was terrific.

“I came onto the pitch for the warm-up at about twenty past two and there was a large group of youngsters behind that goal. There were a lot of young lads there and I could sense that they were going to bang at it.

“We could so with getting the Main Stand rocking a bit more with them. They have done this season, they make a tremendous noise when they do and we will need them for the final home games.

“It is perhaps what we are doing on the pitch and what has happened in the board room recently but you can sense it at the stadium, there is a real feel good factor and we have to keep it going.

He added: “I think the supporters are liking what they are seeing because we are trying to play the right way.”
