"Powell's Performance On The Left Has Given Me Food For Thought"

2 December 2020

Game changer Daniel Powell inspired Crewe Alexandra’s fantastic comeback against Swindon Town last night.

Playing on the left wing rather than the right, Powell, scored a crucial goal to pull one back and then created another two goals in the second half to get Crewe back to winning ways.

The Alex boss says that Powell’s man-of-the-match performance has certainly given him ‘food for thought’ when it comes to further selection.

Following the Railwaymen’s 4-2 win, Artell said: “Out of the six goals, Daniel’s one was the most important. After going 2-0 down, to get a goal so soon after was crucial. It got us back into the game quickly, a minute or two after and it gave us a platform for that second half performance.

“Daniel likes to play on the left and it has given me food for thought. He has played there before and done very well.

“He was our best player on the night and we played him well as well. He was our most effective player and credit to the lads, because they kept getting the ball to him.

“Daniel produced the goods for us. He scored one and had a big hand in two more, so that is all you can ask of a forward player.”
