A Set-Back For Lundstram In His Recovery From Stress Fracture

11 December 2020

Young midfielder looks set for operation to help with stress fracture of the ankle.

Crewe Alexandra youngster, Josh Lundstram, has suffered a set-back in his recovery from his stress fracture of the ankle.

Lundstram underwent another scan on the injury this week and it is now feared that he may need an operation to rectify the problem.

Lundstram was making a decisive break through into the first-team squad, making his full debut against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Trophy and coming off the bench for his league debut against Charlton Athletic.

It is a set-back for the 21-year-old and will result in him missing the next few months.

David Artell told the club’s official website: “Josh has had a set-back in relation to his stress fracture. It wasn’t healing as well as he or we would have wanted, so he visited a specialist again this week and had another scan.

“The scan showed that it hasn’t progressed as well we hoped, so he may need an operation as well. He may need some screws in to support the fracture and sort it out.

“It is blow for Josh and a blow for us.”
