Artell: "We Will Learn From Wimbledon Ending"

22 December 2020

David Artell has told the club’s official website that his opinion of Saturday’s finish at Plough Lane has not changed. The Alex boss has watched the game back and still feels that us going 1-0 up affected our own performance in the final 25 minutes.

Crewe responded superbly well after the Dons late equaliser to snatch a win through Oli Finney’s fourth goal of the season.

Artell told the club’s official website: “My opinion of the game hasn’t changed. Our performance changed after we scored because we stopped passing the ball as well as he had done. It affected us and we went into our shell a bit.

“Wimbledon did become bolder and committed more men forward but we needed to use that to our advantage.

“The momentum shifted and we spoke about it after the game. We spoke about how us scoring a goal shouldn’t affect us and the way we want to play. It wasn’t disastrous and we recovered really well.

“There are still one or two areas we can improve on and that is one of them.”
