Artell: "Good To See Us Sharing The Goals Around"

3 December 2020

David Artell is again looking for the goals to be shared around his Crewe Alexandra side to ease the pressure on our forward players. The Alex defeated Swindon Town on Tuesday evening 4-2 with four different goalscorers on the scoresheet.

The Crewe Alexandra believes the club cannot afford to have one stand out player but he is more than happy to have a collective group of goalscorers. Only last week, he had asked others to step up to help the likes of leading scorer, Mikael Mandron and the experienced Chris Porter in the goalscoring stakes.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It is better for us to share the goals around the team because we cannot afford to be a one-man team and put all our faith into that one basket.

“If that one gets injured or has a loss of form then you can struggle. I want the goals to be shared around the team. We were successful last season because of it and I want to see more of the same.

He added: “It is always pleasing to score goals and to have four different scorers and not to have to rely on Mikael, Chris and Kirky is even more pleasing. Long may that continue because if you can score goals from all over the team then it makes you an effective and dangerous team to play.”
