Artell: "Having Our 12th Man Back Could Make All The Difference"

11 December 2020

David Artell says it will be terrific to have ‘our 12th man back’ when fans return to the Alexandra Stadium for the first time since March this weekend.

As South Cheshire falls into the tier 2 band imposed by the government, the club are permitted to allow 2,000 supporters to watch live football and we are delighted to have them back with us for the visit of Northampton Town.

Artell says it will provide all players with a boost to have some noise back inside grounds and that it will only help us as the home team this weekend.

Talking ahead of our home game against Northampton, the boss said: “Managers talk about the 12th man and helping the team and they are not spouting rubbish. It really can make a difference. It can be helpful.

“We will have 2,000 of our fans helping us from now on and that is a step in the right direction. We wish there were more of them and everyone could come but it is what it is at the moment.

“Hopefully that situation will improve again before the end of the season.

“The fans have been terrific with me. You hear the odd comment every now and again but nothing disastrous. The majority of them accept that you are going to have bad performances and bad results every now again and they generally keep quiet instead of being overly critical.

He added: “That is a real positive for us as a team and a club and it is a real positive to have some of them returning for us. We have missed that support and hopefully they can see some familiar faces again and enjoy the day.”
