Kenny Lunt says that it will be good to welcome James Jones back to Gresty Road next month, after the Alex were drawn with Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.
Jones left the club this summer, joining the Imps on a three-year deal. The academy graduate will make a quick return to Cheshire on September 5th, with his new side the visitors in the First Round of the Carabao Cup.
The assistant manager said “It’ll be good to see James again. He’s good player, and I’m sure he’ll do well for them. He’ll be playing against his old teammates and he knows they’re good players.
“But it’s a good draw. I’d rather have it at Gresty Road, than Lincoln away! It’s always good to be at home.”
Lunt also highlighted Lincoln’s quality as a team, and is looking forward to welcoming them to Gresty Road next month, adding: Hopefully we’ll be ready for that game, it’ll be a good test. They’re a strong team, who have been in League One for a few years now.
“We played them a couple of seasons ago back when they were in League Two, and we had some good games against them and quite a lot of goals. But we’ll be ready for when we play them.”
