The EFL's Stance Provided By The Vice-Chairman

24 April 2020

After joining the club in 2012, three months after the play-off final as a Director, Charles Grant ended that role last week. Following a vote of support from the other eight board members he was appointed as the new Vice-Chairman.

Earlier on in the week, Charles Grant was a part of an EFL conference call with a host of other clubs to discuss the on-going situation that has brought a halt to the football season. Since then he has been able to give us an insight into what was mentioned.

He said: “Really, nothing has changed with the EFL and the position of football in the last few weeks. That doesn’t mean everybody is under the same apprehensions of what is going to happen.

“It has always been the case that football wanted to start again, with training in the third week of May and kick a ball on the first weekend of June.”

As more and more news continues to break in regards to the global Coronavirus pandemic, Grant shared this with the clubs media: “Now, there are an awful lot of clubs who have put a lot of texts and emails into the newspapers, with various concerns and ideas, but fundamentally the EFL’s board position hasn’t changed.

"John and I both support that position, which is that we will try and finish the season."

He finished with: “As we speak now, we will begin training the third week of May and start playing again June 6th."
