David Artell has provided an update on the fitness and well-being of his players and staff. The Crewe Alexandra boss and his staff are in constant contact with his players to check on how they are coping during the Covid-19 lockdown procedures and he is pleased that none of them have reported any symptoms.

Artell explained to the club’s official website: “It really is as is. I’ve spoken to the players, just to ask how they are and how they are coping. It isn’t any more than that but we want to make sure they are okay in body and mind.

“We check to see how they are handling it and how their families are. There was some concern that one of the mothers may have had symptoms because she is a front-line worker, who works in a pharmacy but she is fine.

The boss added: “It is all fairly quiet and all we can do is trust them that they are doing their programmes and remaining fit. They are a professional bunch of lads, so I know they will be. They are all good pros and there is no greater motivation to get fit and get back than being top of the league.”
