Boss: "EFL Were Right Not To Put Any More Dates On A Return"

8 April 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that the governing bodies were correct to announce that football will be suspended indefinitely and will only resume again when it is safe to do so.

A possible return date of 30th April was dismissed on Friday by the Premier League and EFL and Artell believes that they are right not to suggest a time scale on things.

Artell told crewealex.net: “I think the Premier League and EFL are right not to put any new dates down. It is never a good thing if you have to keep pushing the date back time and again.

“I don’t think it helps anyone to keep pushing the can up the road and that is not a great way to go about it.

“It is like having the builders in and have them tell you it will take two weeks but they are still there five weeks later. It puts you on a downer.

He added: “It is right that the EFL have suspended football indefinitely. They said that we will return when it is safe to do so and that is what everyone wants. “
