Dale: "I Used To Watch The 1st Team Aged Six, So Now To Make My Debut Was A Great Feeling"

Owen Dale says that he used to watch the first-team in action at age of six as part of our Academy dreaming of playing for the club and now he has fulfilled a long standing ambition by making his full league debut against Salford City on Saturday.

Although the 20 year-old has been in and around the first team squad for the last couple of seasons, he was yet to make his full league debut. David Artell gave him his chance ahead of summer signing Daniel Powell last weekend and the winger didn’t disappoint.

Owen, who struck the post in our 4-1 win told the club’s official website: “It was very nice to make my full league debut.

“I am not going to lie there were a few nerves beforehand but once I was in the tunnel and saw the crowd, I was fine. The atmosphere was good and I felt comfortable and really enjoyed it. Hopefully there will be many more games like that for me.

“It was a great feeling. I used to watch the first-team when I was six years old and in the Academy, hoping that one day I would get the opportunity to play and now I have been able to do that. Now I just want more and more of it.”
