Artell: "They're One Of Those Teams That Can Beat Anyone On Their Day"

13 September 2019

Boss David Artell has readied his troops for a return to action this weekend in Sky Bet League Two as Cambridge United come to town.

The U's started the season in decent form, remaining unbeaten in the first five with three wins & two wins in league & cup. But the most recent five games have all ended in defeat for Colin Calderwood's side, including 1-0 defeats in the last two to Port Vale & Forest Green.

Artell said: “They’re one of those teams that can beat anyone on their day.

“They can play a couple of different formations & we’ve got to be wary of certain players, but they’ve certainly got weaknesses.

“Ultimately, it’s not about Cambridge it’s about us & what we do. If we perform like we have been doing then we go into the game confident that we can get a victory.

“I can’t speak for Colin & for Cambridge’s tactics, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they look to defend well & hit on the counter.

“I’ve said to the players, the more success you have & the more games you win, expect more teams to come & try & defend in a low block to hit you on the break.

“Will that happen tomorrow? I’m not sure. In the analysis we’ve done, that might be the case, but it might not be.

“We’ve got to make sure that whatever Cambridge do or don’t do, we’re good enough to exploit areas of the pitch & personnel that we feel as though won’t be able to live with our talent, skill & technique.”
