David Artell has heaped praised on his former Crewe colleague Michael Jolley for his transformation of fortunes at Grimsby Town.
The pair coached the Alex Under 16s together a few years ago & Artell knows how Jolley's intelligence & dedication has paved the way for him to break into management & do such a fine job at the high flying Mariners.
Artell said: "I coached with him for well over a year with our Under 16s on a Wednesday night in the dome, so I’ve got to see the way he works up close & personal if you like.
“He’s an intelligent man & he’s a good man. He’s taken a slightly different path into football but he’s obviously a professional & dedicated man.
"He ended up having to go to Sweden to get his first opportunity & he’s not shy in doing that. He’s come back & he’s making a good fist of League Two.
“He’ll have done his research I’m sure because he’s a thorough man, but we go there confident & we’ll try to win the game, irrespective of how bright the manager may or may-not be.”
